Celebrated boxer and podcaster Mike Tyson confronted an unlikely opponent on Sunday while flying into LAX: an ulcer flare-up.

In a statement released to the media on Monday, Tyson’s representatives confirmed that he had recovered from the medical event: “He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”

report by In Touch claims that paramedics boarded the plane to attend to Tyson after an announcement on the flight requested a doctor.

The 57-year-old fighter is set to face off against Jake Paul in an officially sanctioned boxing match on July 20th at AT&T Stadium. Tyson has not competed in a sanctioned fight in 19 years and will go up against Paul, who has accumulated a record of 50-6 with 44 knockouts. Tickets are selling for as high as $3,000 for the greatly anticipated event.

In an April interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Tyson spoke of the fight, claiming: “Like right now, I’m scared to death. But as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality. And in reality, I’m invincible.”

On May 16, Tyson and Paul met face-to-face at a promotion for the event.

Tyson posted a workout video on May 7, captioned “Ready or not here I come.”

Jake Paul taunted Tyson in a March 28 Instagram post, saying “Mikey Mikey, your hands can’t hit what your eyes can’t see.”

Many boxing fans and casual observers alike have commented on the health concerns of the 57-year-old Tyson fighting the 27-year-old Jake Paul. While most have been concerned with head injuries due to the fight, the overall health of the fighters going into the event has also been questioned.

MMA commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan weighed in, saying, “I don’t give a f—- if he’s 55, that’s still Mike Tyson.” He added: “that guy can still f—- you up. In this world with hormone replacement and vitamins, he does all this electro-muscular stimulation recovery stuff.”
