As his re-election campaign becomes increasingly desperate, Democrat President Joe Biden has once again resorted to spreading falsehoods in an effort to smear his opponent in the presidential race.
President Donald Trump has seen a surge in support among black voters.
Biden, meanwhile, has seen his support from this typically Democrat-voting demographic plummet.
In a shameless effort to try to tip the balance back in his favor, Biden deceitfully told black voters in Philadelphia on Wednesday that Trump wanted to “tear gas” those who “peacefully protested” during the Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots in 2020.
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris appeared at Girard College, a predominantly black boarding school in Philadelphia.
During the visit, they thanked black voters for helping to clinch their presidential “victory” in November 2020.
In his speech, the president claimed that his administration has worked to better the lives of black voters.
“A promise made, and a promise kept,” Biden said.
As he made his pitch to the room, Biden pulled no punches toward his chief opponent in the presidential election.
Biden told the crowd that Trump called Jan. 6 prisoners patriots.
He then claimed that wants to pardon those involved in violence on Jan. 6.
“Let me ask you: What do you think [Trump] would have done on Jan. 6, if black Americans had stormed [the Capitol],” Biden asked.
“I don’t think he’d be talking about pardons.
“This is the same guy who wanted to tear gas you as you peacefully protested George Floyd’s murder.”
In May 2020, violent rioting and looting broke out in Philadelphia in response to the death of Floyd.
Like the nationwide rioting during the Summer of 202, the riots started out as peaceful assemblies before turning violent.
The violence involved defacing an iconic statue of famed former Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo.
Rioters also climbed atop glass fixtures near the SEPTA subway entrance.
At least a dozen storefronts along the popular Chestnut and Walnut street corridors were looted or defaced.
Several Philadelphia Police Department vehicles were reportedly set ablaze in the vicinity — as well as a Pennsylvania State Police cruiser — and a Starbucks was seen engulfed in flames on Dilworth Plaza, which sits along the west rampart of City Hall.
Billions of dollars worth of damage to public and private property was caused by the rioters, much of which occurred in prominently black neighborhoods.
As the violence and destruction spiraled out of control, police officers ultimately equipped themselves in riot gear.
They reportedly ended up confronting a violent crowd near the Municipal Services Building at 16th and Arch streets.
The officers were said to have pressed the crowd back as they threw projectiles, and tried to push through the police line by using a fence.
As a result of the initial night of rioting, over a dozen police officers were injured and a mandatory curfew was put in place.
The White House handers nor Biden has yet to clarify the president’s remarks about the riots supposedly being “peaceful.”
Riots broke out across the nation in the spring and summer of 2020 after Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose while in Minneapolis police custody.
