At 8:30 PM on July 27th, 2024, San Kamphaeng police, forest officers, and relevant agencies launched a search for two missing foreign tourists who got lost in the forest area of Doi Nang Mo, near the Mae Pha Nhaen Reservoir, San Kamphaeng, Chiang Mai.

Local authorities initiated the search based on the coordinates sent by the tourists before their signal was lost. The area in the On Tai Subdistrict is a dense forest covering 11 villages. Given the rugged terrain and the onset of darkness, it was suspected that the tourists had become disoriented and were unable to find their way out, according to local reporters.

At 10:49 PM, after an extensive search, officials found the two missing tourists, a male Russian and a female Chinese tourist, in the Doi Nang Mo area near Mae Pha Nhaen Reservoir, On Tai Subdistrict.
