RFK Asked for Cabinet Job in Harris Administration, Harris Rejected Meeting

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. asked for a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris last week, with sources claiming he offered to end his campaign and endorse Harris in exchange for a cabinet position in her administration. According to people familiar with RFK’s plans, Harris reportedly rejected the proposed sit-down, but Kennedy fiercely denies ever requesting it, emphasizing his plans to remain in the race.

First reported by the Washington Post, Kennedy has made overtures to both Harris and former President Donald Trump, expressing an interest in forming a unity government with either candidate. RFK and Trump specifically discussed health policy and medical issues last month in Milwaukee but did not reach an agreement.

“From the beginning of this campaign, we were saying people should be talking to each other,” Kennedy said Wednesday in an interview. “That is the only way of unifying the country.”

Harris’ camp has not shown any interest in Kennedy’s proposal or responded to his request, which he described as a “strategic mistake.”

“No one has any intention of negotiating with a MAGA-funded fringe candidate who has sought out a job with Donald Trump in exchange for an endorsement,” a DNC source said.

Following these reports, Kennedy stated that “VP Harris’s Democratic Party would be unrecognizable to my father and uncle and I cannot reconcile it with my values.”

“I have no plans to endorse Kamala Harris for President,” he continued. “I do have a plan to defeat her.”
