Bank of America Customers’ Balances Wiped to Zero amid Reports of Widespread Outages

Customers with Bank of America are sounding the alarm after realizing the balances on their accounts have been wiped to zero.

Other customers are reporting they are blocked from “accessing their accounts and balance information,” according to CBS News.

The news comes amid reports of widespread outages at the bank.

Bank of America confirmed to CBS that “some clients” are dealing with a “glitch.”

The issue is preventing them from being able to access “their accounts and balance information,” according to the outlet.

In a statement, Bank of America said:

“Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today.

“These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved.

“We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Several people took to social media to share how the Bank of America glitch was affecting their bank accounts.

Elijah Schaffer, a journalist with Gateway Pundit wrote in a post on X that his account was wiped by a “cyber attack.”

“My personal and business Bank of America accounts were wiped to $0.00 in this alleged cyber attack,” Schaffer said alongside a screenshot of his banking app.

“Bank of America having a glitch and my acct being at $0 gave me a heart attack,” one person wrote in a post on X.

“That Bank of America glitch… yup,” another person wrote. “Affecting my account.”

Another person wrote that Bank of America was “down and showing $0 balances,” and wouldn’t let them log in to their banking app.

“Can’t call customer support either because they just hang up saying they can’t accept calls right now,” the person added. “Did they get hacked?”

“There’s some kind of glitch on the Bank of America website that shows $0 in all accounts and honestly I think they owe everybody some cash for pain and suffering because that was extremely stressful for a second there,” one user posted on X.

At the time of publishing, customers are still reporting outages with Bank of America, according to DownDetector.

Approximately 50 percent of issue reports cited problems with online banking, 41 percent cited mobile banking and just one percent of users reported issues with ATMs.

“Five accounts show zero balance, over 20K,” a Bank of America customer shared on Downdetector.

Bank of America has not yet stated what caused the outage, when services will be restored, or whether this incident put customers’ money at risk.

The silence has sparked fury among its customers, meanwhile.

One woman angrily demanded on X:

“Could your people release a statement asap about what is wrong with the mobile app?”
